SiC Technology Accelerates into Solar-Storage Sector

2026-08-20

Since 2026, silicon carbide (SiC) technology has been rapidly penetrating the solar-storage application space. From string storage platforms to commercial storage cabinets, SiC has become a key technology pathway for improving system efficiency and power density. Industry players including Huawei Digital Power, Haier New Energy, and Hyperstrong have unveiled SiC-based products at recent exhibitions, signaling that SiC is moving from "optional" to "standard."

Huawei's next-generation smart string grid-forming storage platform, for example, uses 1000Vac SiC modules supporting 1000V AC voltage, reducing delivery time by approximately 30% and cutting auxiliary system costs by over 20% for a 1 GWh storage plant. For residential use, Huawei's integrated solar-storage inverter also adopts a full SiC architecture with natural cooling and wireless communication. Depu New Energy is closely monitoring SiC technology advancements and actively evaluating SiC solutions in its inverter R&D. By adopting higher-efficiency power conversion technologies, Depu aims to further improve energy conversion efficiency and reduce system losses, delivering lower levelized cost of electricity to end users. As SiC device adoption scales up, Depu will leverage its in-house manufacturing capabilities to translate cutting-edge technology into cost-effective residential storage products, making cleaner, more economical energy accessible to more households.
